How does it work? 如何运作？

SoftwarePassport is the next generation DRM solution leveraging the existing Armadillo protection engine that you may already be familiar with. With a new, intuitive interface, and specific focus on the trial creation and marketing screens for conversion, this new tool is now implemented on the RegNow system. Traditionally, license keys have been pregenerated and loaded into RegNow, or when a user has made a purchase, the Armadillo license engine generates a license key and is made available on the web page and via email for the customer to copy and paste into their software application. The SoftwarePassport Pro process takes this a step further. Once the user has completed the purchase, the protected program contacts the Digital River Activation Server, requests a key, and the license key is automatically generated and injected into the program. There are two ways for customers to make a purchase of a product protected by SoftwarePassport in RegNow: Trialware purchase and Direct purchase. If the customer purchased through the trial (limited) version, on the final thank-you page of the order they will see a red Click Here to Activate link. Once they click that link, the license key will automatically inject. If, for some reason the customer does not click that link, you can find the license key by doing the following: 客户在购买RegNow中由SoftwarePassport保护的产品时有两种方式：试用产品购买和直接购买。如果客户是通过电子书的试用版（限制版）进行购买，在订单最后的感谢页面，客户会看到红色的Click Here to Activate的链接。客户一旦点击该链接，许可密钥将会自动注入。如果客户由于某些原因而没有点击该链接，还可以按照以下操作找到许可密钥：

Look up the order in your control panel. Click on the Order ID > Click on the Order Item ID (for the product) > Select "View Entitlement" from the dropdown and click "Go!". You should then see the license key. This also applies to if the customer purchased the product directly from the website (and not the trial). If it is purchased through the trial, it will say "Trialware purchase".

Note: The trial version download link for your product will be (replace XXXXX-X with your product ID):

If the customer purchased directly though the website, on the final thank-you page there will be a download link. The customer would then have to download the product and install. Once the product is launched after installation, the key will auto-inject. 如果客户是直接从网站上进行购买，在最后的感谢页面上将会有一个下载链接，这时客户只需下载和安装该产品。当软件在安装后启动时，密钥将自动注入。

Note: If no license key has been generated, you can select "Deliver License Key" from the dropdown mentioned above. On the next page, enter the customer's hardware ID (they are provided with this ID on the Enter Key dialogue box in your product) and click "Deliver". No, you do not. If you would like a license key for the FREE version, please send your RegNow vendor ID to accounts@regnow.com. Please keep in mind that the FREE version is restricted to Digital River style keys rather than the Standard Keys; this means that you must use the DR Activation Server to generate keys. 不，您不需要。如果您想要免费生成许可密钥，请发送您的RegNow发行商ID到accounts@regnow.com。请注意免费版本仅限于Digital River版的密钥而非标准密钥；这说明使用免费版本时您必须使用DR激活服务器来生成密钥。

Note: The FREE version cannot generate license keys if your product is using the Armadillo license option. What are the differences between Armadillo and SoftwarePassport? Armadillo与SoftwarePassport有何区别？

Armadillo is the actual software protection program and engine. Armadillo是实际的的软件保护工具与引擎。

SoftwarePassport is an alternate user interface for Armadillo that Digital River is developing (it actually uses Armadillo in the background to protect your programs). SoftwarePassport是DR开发的另一个Armadillo简易用户界面（实际上它是利用Armadillo在后台来保护您的产品）。

There are two main differences as far as functionality between the SoftwarePassport interface and the Armadillo Classic interface. They are: SoftwarePassport界面和Armadillo传统界面在功能上主要有两个区别，分别是：

1. Armadillo's network licensing settings are not available in SoftwarePassport. So if you need Armadillo's network licensing for your program, you should use the Armadillo Classic interface.

2. SoftwarePassport has some additional settings (called "Activation") that are specifically for those people choosing to use Digital River as their registration service that are not available in the Armadillo Classic interface. In SoftwarePassport, once a project (the process of protecting your final exe or dll) is complete, a new file named *.ARM is created. Within this ARM file contains all the settings necessary to generate a license key for your program. Just upload this ARM file during the product setup.
